Lehigh Acres, Florida is situated 12 miles east of Fort Myers on the Southwest Coast of the Florida peninsula. Lehigh Acres is a very young community, getting its start in the 1950s after Lee Ratner, a Chicago businessman, needed a tax shelter for his investments. He along with another fellow Chicagoan began developing Lehigh after getting into real estate together shortly after moving here.

Considered the fastest-growing community in Lee County, there are thousands of vacant lots where you can build your next dream home. Even though there are so many available lost, the community has created a program entitled "Smart Growth", a 20-year plan for handling the growth of this popular community. Lehigh Acres has an extensive network of freshwater canals – over 175 miles of them - that are very popular for the canoe enthusiast. Real estate in Lehigh includes condominiums, townhomes, single-family homes, and villas in a variety of different communities affording a plethora of amenities. Some of the gated communities in Lehigh Acres include Copperhead Golf and Country Club, Danforth Lakes, The Grove, Town Lakes, and Westminster. It covers 61,000 acres of land and is part of Lee County. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and recreational activities throughout Lehigh Acres for all ages. Part of the School District of Lee County, Lehigh Acres Elementary, Middle, and Senior High School serve much of the population within this community.
